My Florida State University Page

I transfered to Florida State University in the fall of 2000, after graduation from Chipola Junior College earlier that spring. Accepted into the College of Business, I began work on my dual-major in Marketing/Finance. I expect to graduate from the FSU College of Business in December of 2002. To find out more about the College of Business CLICK HERE.
While at Florida State, I am also a proud member of the "World-Renowned, Florida State University Marching Chiefs!!!" We attend all home games and select away games during the Noles annual football campaign.

More Information

Florida State University is a public educational institution in Tallahassee, Florida. This school has a long tradition of academic and extra-curricular excellence. The Florida State University Marching Chiefs is one of the premier marching ensembles in the world. To visit the Chiefs' web site, CLICK HERE. After a grueling pre-season training, I found out that I was going to be a part of this world-class organization. It is an experience like no other.

FSU Atheletics

The Atheletics at Florida State are excellent. As a member of the Marching Chiefs, I get to see most of the Football games in person. The feeling you get when you march into the Doak on FSU's campus, in front of 87,000 screaming fans, is like none other on the planet. This year, I also participated in Chiefly Brass, the Basketball pep band. I went to almost all of the home FSU basketball games, both men's and women's. The most memorable game I ever attended, and maybe ever will, was the game this past January when WE BEAT DUKE!!! There is no way that this upset should have happened, but it did, and I was there to see it.CLICK HERE to visit the FSU Atheletics web site.

Other FSU Information
Florida State University is a public, coeducational institution. It is a senior member of the ten state universities that compose the State University System of Florida. The main campus of the University is located in Tallahassee, the state's capital. Florida State University also offers degree programs in Panama City, Sarasota, and the Republic of Panama.

In addition to the branch campuses, the University offers a wide variety of overseas study opportunities for students during the regular academic year, as well as in special summer programs. These include the Florence, Italy, Torremolinos, Spain, and France, in which my roommate, Brad, is participating this summer. nbsp;

The total enrollment of the University is about 35,000.

Academics
FSU has sixteen major academic divisions: the Colleges of Arts and Sciences, Business, Communication, Education, Engineering, Human Sciences, Law, and Social Science; and the Schools of Criminology and Criminal Justice, Film (Motion Picture, Television, and Recording Arts), Information Studies, Music, Nursing, Social Work, Theatre, and Visual Arts and Dance.

The colleges and schools offer courses of study in 25 major disciplines. In addition to the associate in arts certificate they now offer 93 authorized baccalaureate degree programs covering 196 fields, 99 authorized master's degree programs covering 169 fields, 1 authorized advanced master's degree program covering 1 field, 27 specialist degree programs covering 35 fields, one authorized professional degree program covering seven fields, and 71 authorized doctoral degree programs covering 132 fields. Through the Center for Professional Development & Public Service, the university also conducts off-campus credit courses and degree programs as well as non-credit programs, workshops, seminars, and conferences.

Research
The Florida State University has built a reputation as a strong research institution in both the sciences and the humanities. Private foundations, industries, and government agencies all provide funding to support research at FSU. In 1994, Florida State was accorded the status of Research I University by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching, an elite distinction that recognizes the university's strengths in doctoral programs and federal funding.

Arts
The University is a nationally recognized center of excellence in graduate training in the visual and performing arts. FSU and Tallahassee also provide a wide variety of music, theatre, and dance performances.

Athletics
Florida State University is a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference, and sponsors eight men's teams and nine women's teams in intercollegiate athletics.

Location
The main FSU campus is located in Tallahassee, Florida's capital city. This affords students and faculty opportunities for interaction with state and federal agencies for internships, research, and part-time employment, as well as a myriad of social, cultural, and recreational activities. This has proved beneficial to me because I am currently working with the State of Florida, Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission in their Bureau of Accounting.

FSU facts are from the Florida State University Fact Book.
