My Testimony

God has truly done a lot in my life. When I was six years old, I went to Bible School and decided to ask Jesus into my heart. I, even at the tender age of six, could feel God at work in my life.

It wasn't even one month later that I was diagnosed with diabetes. I didn't know what was going on in my body, but I knew that it wasn't good. But, as I felt sorry for myself, God had a plan.

Since then, he has blessed me with many opportunities that I wouldn't have had if it had not been for diabetes. In 1991, I began attending Camp Seale Harris, a camp in Alabama for children living with diabetes. I attended the Alabama camp for 6 years as a camper, 2 years as a Counselor in Training, and have since become a counselor. I have also worked as a Counselor at the Georgia Diabetes camp, Camp Kudzu, since the summer of 2000. It is a truly wonderful experience each year when I attend.

During the summers of 1999 and 2000, camp wasn't the only thing on my agenda. I was selected to go on the Florida Baptist All-State Youth musicians on mission tour to Washington D.C. in '99 and Atlanta in '00. This was a great spiritually, musically, uplifting experience that I thank God for giving to me.

I am now a student at Florida State University, majoring in Marketing and Finance. I plan to graduate from FSU in December of 2002. Since I have been at FSU, I have been blessed with the opportunity to march in the Florida State University, Marching Chiefs and participate in Chiefly Brass, the Basketball pep band. I enjoy doing all of these things a lot, and diabetes has never caused me to miss any experiences that I felt I should have had.

God had a plan for me from the first day I was alive and even before. He has molded me and used me for what I believe is His work and His will. And while I didn't always know where God was sending me and why I was on the path I was, I have always trusted that, just as he walks with me through my triumphs, he will guide me through my troubles.
